Five lap dancing venues approved

FIVE venues have been granted lap-dancing licences in Blackpool – despite councillors previously agreeing a policy to allow only four.

The council’s public protection sub-committee judged all five applicants met its strict criteria which includes 47 conditions including a ban on nudity.

It means Club Rouge and Solid Gold on Clifton Street, along with Sinless, Eden 2 and Heaven at Gaietys, all on the Promenade, can continue to operate after May 1 when the new licences are introduced.

Committee chairman Coun Norman Hardy said: “Our policy says four but overriding it is that we have to take each application on its merits.

“We now have five clubs run properly and safely, with conditions attached to their licences. I would rather have that than unlicensed venues running outside our control.”
